For
more than 20 years, APLA has provided comprehensive
risk reduction strategies to people living with
HIV disease and to those whose behavior puts them at risk for HIV
infection. APLA’s
HIV prevention work includes community organizing, peer health education,
research and
evaluation, mobilizing HIV prevention leadership
through summits, conferences and trainings, and
social marketing campaigns.
Crystal Methamphetamine
The Crystal Methamphetamine
Program, funded
by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Office of AIDS
Programs and Policy, aims to reduce the risk of HIV infection among
gay and bisexual men who use crystal through forums, trainings and workshops.

Mpowerment
The Mpowerment Program provides
HIV/AIDS information, harm reduction strategies, peer trainings and outreach

for Los Angeles County youth ages 15 – 22.
Red Circle Project
APLA’s Red Circle
Project aims to increase
positive social norms about safer sex and early screening for HIV among
Native American/Alaskan Native Two-Spirit men who have sex with men.
Sexual Health Xchange
The Sexual Health Xchange (SHX) is a nationwide project to raise public awareness about the sexual health needs of gay men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) and expand the range of sexual health education options available to gay men, especially gay men of color.
