Research and Training programs at AIDS Project
Los Angeles are designed to assist other community based organizations
build capacity for and evaluate their HIV/AIDS programs to ensure the best
quality of services for their clients.
Current programs are:
Acción Mutua/Shared Action
Acción Mutua/Shared
Action is designed to help AIDS service organizations
in the western United States build and refine their prevention programs
for Latinos/as.
Community-Based Research
The Community-Based Research (CBR) unit at AIDS Project Los Angeles provides culturally, linguistically and gender-appropriate research designed to improve services to people, communities and institutions affected by HIV/AIDS. The program also serves as a resource to other organizations conducting community-based research.
Peer Support Training Program
APLA’s Peer
Support Training Program provides technical assistance to Los Angeles
community based organizations that offer peer support services that complement
traditional care services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Prevention with Positives
APLA’s Prevention with Positives (PwP) program develops and supports strategies to reduce transmission risk among people living with HIV/AIDS and offers prevention resources to the uninfected. The program also provides access to information and resources for curriculum and evaluation development, PwP trainings and information on promising prevention strategies.
